Scripture is very clear about many facts. The following are some of the more important ones.

  1. God loves everyone: "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life." (John 3:16)

  2. Everyone has sinned: Scripture affirms that “all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23). Additionally, Scripture reminds us, "But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." (Romans 5:8)

  3. Salvation is possible through faith in Jesus Christ: While everyone has sinned, the Good News is that we can be saved from our sin. Scripture states we can be “justified [forgiven] as a gift by His grace through the redemption which is in Christ Jesus” (Romans 3:24). Salvation is easily received by faith because “whoever believes in [Jesus Christ] shall not perish, but have eternal life” (John 3:16).

  4. Salvation is only through Jesus Christ: Jesus Christ is the only One who lived a sinless life (Hebrews 4:15), died for our sins and rose again three days later to conquer sin (1 Corinthians 15: 1-4). Therefore, “there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men by which we must be saved.” (Acts 4:12)

  5. There is one God who exists in three persons (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit):

  • One God: “I am the LORD, and there is no other; apart from me there is no God.” (Isaiah 45:5)

  • God the Father: “…always giving thanks to God the Father for everything…” (Ephesians 5:20)

  • God the Son: “In the beginning was the Word [Jesus], and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning.” (John 1:1-2)

  • God the Holy Spirit: “Ananias, how is it that Satan has so filled your heart that you have lied to the Holy Spirit…. You have not lied to men but to God.” (Acts 5:3-4)

  1. Eternal life with God awaits those who receive Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior: Scripture declares, “whoever believes will, in Him, have eternal life” (John 3:15) This is because “to all who received [Jesus], to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God…” (John 1:12) This means, “Whoever believes in him is not condemned” but is saved. (John 3:18)

  2. Eternal damnation awaits those who do not receive Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior: Anyone who does not accept Jesus Christ for salvation, “will be punished with everlasting destruction and shut out from the presence of the Lord and from the majesty of his power” (2 Thessalonians 1:9). This is because, “whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God's one and only Son.” (John 3:18)

  1. Jesus Christ will return: Scripture informs us, “For the Lord [Jesus] Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we shall always be with the Lord. Therefore comfort one another with these words.” (1 Thessalonians 4:16-18)

  2. Not all who claim to be Christian are Christians: “Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. Many will say to me on that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and in your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?' Then I will tell them plainly, 'I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!'” (Matthew 7:21-23)

  3. Godly Christian living is a necessary result of salvation: Scripture proclaims, “Whoever claims to live in him [claims to be a Christian] must walk as Jesus did.” (1 John 2:6) In other words, “if anyone obeys his word, God's love is truly made complete in him.” (1 John 2:5) But anyone, “who says, ‘I know him,’ but does not do what he commands is a liar, and the truth is not in him.” (1 John 2:4)
